This workshop is open to those struggling with any of the afore mentioned issues as well as yogis and yoga instructors wanting to deepen their practice and understanding of the foundations of standing poses, the “power of the back leg” according to BKS Iyengar in Light on Yoga and mula bandha.

This workshop is led by Karen Kaplan - a native of Winston-Salem and owner of Healing Art of Integrative Therapies, has studied numerous traditions of yoga, expressive, trauma and yoga therapies and holds advanced certifications in Kinesthetic Myofascial Integration, Yoga Teachings & Therapies. Having lived in Boston, MA for many years, Karen has taught yoga, mind-body health & awareness workshops privately, in studios & for corporations around the country. Karen also enjoys working with individuals of all ages, including those who have mental health issues, physical injuries, challenges & disabilities, neurological & autoimmune diseases. Using a blend of techniques from all her studies in yoga, integrative medicine, physical therapy & KMI, Karen’s teaching engenders physical awareness & healing by building core strength, discovering the power of the breath & developing proper physical alignment for each individuals’ body. Through intentional movement, clients are able to quiet the mind & often discover a deeper knowledge of the self as well as a recognition of how they deal with others & the world around them. Karen finds the practice of yoga to be profound in transforming the body & the Spirit.
