Join Michelle Johnson and Dani Leah Strauss for an evening of meditation, devotional call-and-response chanting, love and Prashad, something sweet, at the end of our time together. Embodied Awakening

Embodied Awakening is an initiation into the full spectrum of who you are—a journey out of the head and into the body, where truth, wisdom, and healing reside. This four-part series guides you into deeper alignment with the elemental forces that shape our lives, into the sensual experiences that make us feel alive, and into the shadowy depths and radiant light within.

Each session is an opportunity to break free from patterns of numbness and routine, calling you to awaken every sensation, to open places that have been closed off, and to explore what it means to be fully present in the body. While each session offers a complete experience on its own, the journey deepens as each session builds on the last, inviting you to experience the richness of this full awakening.

Through movement, breath, and presence, you’ll learn to reconnect with the wisdom held within your body, releasing the tension and heaviness that may be keeping you from feeling truly alive. This series invites you to experience freedom, confidence, and fluidity in how you move, breathe, and express yourself.

If you’re ready to come home to yourself, to feel each moment more fully, and to access the deep, quiet truths that live within, Embodied Awakening is here to serve you. This is an experience for all who seek a profound self-connection, for those ready to live in their body and be fully awakened to the full spectrum of life.

January 9: Embodying the Elements — Grounding & Connection
January 23: Embodying the Senses — Awakening Inner Awareness
February 6: Embodying the Shadow — Embracing the Unseen

Moving with the Doshas

Moving with the Doshas

According to Ayurveda, each person has a unique physical and mental makeup, called dosha, that is strongly benefited by consistent and conscious balance. How best to achieve that balance can vary from person to person. One effective, fun and engaging way to balance the doshas is through conscious breathwork and asana practice.

In three 90-minute sessions we will focus on each of the three doshas: pitta, vata, or kapha. We will help determine what your predominant dosha is, and practice postures that can help to alleviate doshic imbalances. Since all three doshas or forces are present in us at different times, it is recommended to attend all three sessions for a comprehensive understanding of how to apply Ayurveda not only to your yoga practice, but also to your life.

  • August 17 - Moving with Kapha Dosha

  • August 31 - Moving with Pitta Dosha

  • September 14 - Moving with Vata Dosha

We Heal Together Immersion with Michelle Johnson

We are connected to all things and the entire web of life. Every raindrop, blade of grass, bird taking flight, baby being born, ancestor transitioning, seed germinating, bear entering a cave to hibernate, whale migrating, and sea turtle resting on the shore. Even though we may know how interconnected we are to all things, we may experience periods of feeling isolated and disconnected. During these times, it is important for us to, instead of retreating into our disconnection, come back into community with one another. We must reach out, connect with compassion and openness, and practice alongside one another to heal from our past and present-day wounds and into the future.

During this day-long immersion, we will connect to ourselves and all beings, past, present, and future, and work with the universal truth that we all come from each other. We are kin and community, and we thrive and heal in community. The We Heal Together immersion will include contemplative and somatic practices, including pranayama, meditation, asana, yoga nidra, ancestral practices, journaling, rituals, and community conversation. Participants will leave this immersion with more tools and skills for healing. And will leave feeling more open-hearted with a more profound awareness of why prioritizing our individual and collective healing is essential.

Additionally, three scholarship spots have been made available for students of yoga who would benefit from financial assistance.

Illuminating Our True Nature: Book Reading and Workshop

Come celebrate Michelle C. Johnson's newest book, Illuminating Our True Nature: Yogic Practices for Individual and Collective Healing.

In this book reading and workshop, Michelle will draw from yoga philosophy, specifically, the kleshas or reasons why we suffer individually and collectively. These five reasons, according to Patanjali's Yoga Sutras, are avidya-a lack of clear sight or knowledge, asmita-an overidentification with the ego, raga-an attachment to pleasure, dvesha-aversion or avoidance, and abhinivesha-a fear of death or letting go.

During the workshop, Michelle will guide and share practices from the eight-limbed path of yoga to support you in identifying how the kleshas show up in your life and how to respond to them. These practices include asanas, pranayama, meditation, mudras, and mantras. The workshop flow will be an opening centering, book talk, and discussion, yogic practices for integrating the material and concepts presented by Michelle, and time for questions and book signing. Your registration includes a copy of Illuminating Our True Nature.

Cost

$20 — includes a copy of Illuminating Our True Nature. *Scholarships available upon request

Harnessing Your Inner Masculine & Feminine

Have you been feeling the call of embodying more of your truth? Of creating deeper, more fulfilling relationships? Of healing trauma? Do you long to quell the self-judgement and speak to yourself with love?

Our inner Masculine and Feminine are potent energies that affect our behaviors. When wielded unskillfully, they can tear us down and keep us stuck in harmful patterns. But, when understood and harnessed, they are our most useful assets in embodying and expressing our innate wholeness.

Through exercises, teachings, and group discussions, we’ll gain a better understanding of how these inner forces manifest in our bodies, relationships, and behaviors.

This workshop provides a safe and supportive space for self-exploration.

When you understand these aspects, you can more easily shift along this spectrum of expression in order to:
• Speak your needs
• Set boundaries
• Speak to yourself with love, not judgement
• Hold yourself through big emotions
• Connect more deeply with yourself
• Create more satisfying relationships
• Reduce stress and burnout
• Lead yourself and your communities better
• Heal and/or strengthen your relationship with masculine energy
• Liberate your life force

What do bring:
• Pen and paper
• Comfortable clothes

Investment:
• $20
• Free for Lotus members, including in passes and subscriptions

Full Harvest Moon Meditation

What to Expect

This is a full moon meditation centered around harnessing the power of the full moon energy to connect to our higher states of consciousness and awareness.

Chloë will offer information on the astrological aspects of this particular Full Moon and what to expect or prepare for throughout the moon cycle.

Neil will guide us through a series of meditations and kundalini practices then will be rounding out the evening with a sound bath utilizing a gong.

If you would like to stay afterwards, we will have yogi tea and tarot reading while letting the energy of the evening settle in.

What to Bring

A yoga mat, blanket, and cushion/bolster.

We will be seated for most of the meditation which can be quite uncomfortable on our hips. We have plenty of meditation props and cushions available for purchase if you don’t have any to bring from home. At this time, we do not offer community props due to cover-19. We highly recommend a firm cushion to sit on and a blanket to support your posture or cover up with during the sound bath.

In many spiritual practices, it is common to wear white. We recommend wearing white but it is not required, wear what is most comfortable for you.
